Last Chance
Here is the second book review of the summer. This book took me a little longer to read, it wasn't the summer romance type, so therefore I give it a 3.5 out of 5 because it was a very good read, just not the sort of book I typically tend to splurge on during a hot summer's day.
Nevertheless, here is a little about the storyline and what I thought; Last Chance by Sarah Dessen is an excellent book about adventure and self confidence. It is firstly a play on words. The main character, Colie, seems to be on her last chance after extreme bullying and weight loss, but 'Last Chance' also happens to be the diner she gets a summer job at. Here, she makes 2 friends, they give her the gift of confidence. She goes from a literal mouse, so timid with no confidence to the brave and beautiful girl she was always destined to be.
She does find an eventual summer love, however the main story line revolves around Colie and the friends she manages to make and how they change the way she perceives life.
It is a good summer read, however I wouldn't put it in my top 5. It is worth while if you prefer books that aren't so much a summer love fling but are more about growth and friendship and finding yourself.
I will be onto my next book, which is also by Sarah Dessen, straight away. This will be the next to be reviewed in the series.
Thanks for reading!
