Confidence
Whilst in London, I went to see Confidence, written by Judy Upton starring one of my favourite YouTubers, Tanya Burr.
I thought that she pulled the role of Ella brilliantly, a cocky, big-for-her-boots, wannabe business-b*tch with a plan to take over the seaside town.
It starts with her and a (more than friend) Dean with a plan to go to America. They come up with an absolutley flawless plan to start a 'dolfin' watching business and make big money to go there with. Ella states they will have loads of cash, new designer clothes and not a worry in the world.
Ella however, gets herself into trouble, weaving lies to different characters, as she is not the wonderful businesswoman we first thought, and gets caught up.
Here are some photos I found on the internet, as photography was not permitted, taken by Helen Murray.
The set was brilliant, with brightly coloured lights everywhere really giving it those 90's vibes. It was also kitted out with a realistic cafe counter and table, an ice cream booth and a life-sized Liam Gallagher.
The piece was light and funny, and had all the perfect touches for the 90's theme - the clothes, language, and desire for Reebok trainers.
I really enjoyed the piece all together, the way the actors worked together was very effective. The venue itself is also really lovely, rustic and the stage itself is very small and personal. I felt that at least one point during the performance, I could have reached out and touched all the actors.
The play is still on for a few more weeks, if you get the chance to go you should definitely see this bubbly throwback piece.
Thanks for reading this review!
