Creating a Poster

For 115AAD we have to create a poster to promote our salon. To kickstart this, Paula did an exercise where we came up with 9 poster design ideas in about 30 minutes. From this, I took one idea and did my best to digitalise it, then printed it in A2 size. This is my original poster design.

Whilst I quite liked how it looked on screen, when printed it looks so different. I have realised the logo is WAY too big, and there is a lot of empty space. The poster isn't exciting and doesn't make me want to go to the event. I realise now why Paula is so keen on us printing work, (even if it means using about 300 credits and having to cut and stick it together) because otherwise I would have gone with this design, when in reality, when printed it's pretty horrific. To rectify this, I am creating some illustrations for the poster to make it more exciting and to give it that other element that it needs.

Upon reflection, I am glad that I had made something and printed it for the lesson. This is always the best thing to do, otherwise I cannot get crit on it and move forwards. If I had not taken the time to do this, I wouldn't have discovered how to make it much better. Also, from these illustrations, I already have some fun ideas to encorporate into my website.

Thanks for reading!
