Basement Browns
At the weekend, I finally visited Basement Browns for lunch. I have walked past it many times since it has been open, but I have never been in. I finally had the chance to go and wanted to blog the experience, as the food, service, atmosphere and decor of the place was so lovely and inviting.
When you walk in, you are greeted with friendly staff who invite you in, you can sit where you like (upstairs or downstairs... in the basement) and you are walked through the menu and options.
The menu is great! It has not only pizza, but salads too. Their pizza can also be gluten free. They have a wide selection of vegan options, including meat and cheese. When my boyfriend ordered the vegan meat feast, they gave him the option for normal or vegan cheese too (I thought this was really cool and nonjudgemental).
The list of sides is also very extensive, I really liked this as there is loads to chose from. They also have the best wooden basket of sauces in little pots that you can chose from. This was my favourite bit by far.
I love the rustic feel of the whole place, the way it has an open kitchen and a open pizza oven, to the wall decorations, to the recycled napkins. Everything is so aesthetically appealing.
Here are some photos of the place:
For food, I had a normal margherita with peppers and sweetcorn. Joe tried the vegan meat feast with vegan cheese. Although this is something I would never order, I tried the cheese and it was actually really nice! The food was delicious overall. The chips we shared were lovely (I usually don't like chunky chips but these were good). Here is our food:
The overall experience was really enjoyable and I will definitely be going back. Next time I would like to try some of the dessert options, they do cakes, cookies and flapjacks all made by local bakeries. I find the way they support local bakeries and recycling through their napkins and packaging encourages people to dine there. They also support different dietary requirements which will encourage all diners and customers.
They have created a really unique and authentic branding style, and it is really working for them!
If you're about in Coventry town and need food, I definatley suggest you go.
Thankyou for reading!
