What made me Creative?

As part of the 115 module, Phil has asked us to look back and think about what originally moulded us into creative people. I can remember always enjoying reading when I was younger, with my family always encouraging me to be academic and read. My Grandad always used to read to me when I stayed at his house on a Saturday night, we read big books that made me feel really clever. One I always remember is "Bobbsey Twins at Mystery Mansion" which we ploughed through week by week, a chapter at a time. Here is a picture of the book!

Around the same age, I remember collecting rubbers. Not just any rubbers, but cool rubbers in different shapes and sizes and colours. Some from museums or seaside towns with the name of the place on it, some in dog or cat shapes and so on. I remember my favourite being a burger. I loved the rubbers, and never used them. I organised them in a tin I had with each category having its own space.

I have also always been interested in English, in Year 7 writing stories or in Year 8 planning a story board for a play and dressing up to create it, using the photos as the basis of the project.

Later on, when I was offered the design options such as Textiles, Graphic Design and RM I enjoyed tasks and was always coming up with wacky ideas and wanting to complete the final project first.

These are all reasons why I have become the creative person I am today!

Thank you for reading,

Katie Xx

Meet your Blogger

Hi! I'm Katie, studying Graphic Design at Coventry University. I am using my blog as a space where I can record my University experience, and document interesting elements of my course, and other things I find along the way. Enjoy!
